English translation

1104. Ḥuṣain bin 'Abdur-Raḥmān said: " 'Umārah bin Ruwaibah once saw Bishr bin Marwān supplicating (with his hands raised) on Friday (while giving the Khutbah). 'Umārah said: 'May Allāh disgrace these two hands! I saw the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ while he was on the Minbar — he would not do more than this....," meaning, raising his forefinger. (Saḥīḥ)

1104 - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ، عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: رَأَى عُمَارَةُ بْنُ رُوَيْبَةَ بِشْرَ بْنَ مَرْوَانَ، وَهُوَ يَدْعُو فِي يَوْمِ جُمُعَةٍ، فَقَالَ عُمَارَةُ: قَبَّحَ اللَّهُ هَاتَيْنِ الْيَدَيْنِ، قَالَ زَائِدَةُ: قَالَ حُصَيْنٌ: حَدَّثَنِي عُمَارَةُ، قَالَ: «لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ مَا يَزِيدُ عَلَى هَذِهِ» يَعْنِي السَّبَّابَةَ الَّتِي تَلِي الْإِبْهَامَ
