Using the library responsibly

Terms of Service

Last updated: 29 October 2026

These terms explain the conditions for using Dar al-Hadith and its reading tools. Please use the library respectfully and follow the rules below. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.

1. Reading, study and attribution

You may browse the library and use its copy, bookmark, commentary and highlighting tools for personal study. When quoting or sharing a narration, retain its collection, hadith number and relevant source attribution. Do not present your own commentary as part of the original text or as a statement from this project.

Texts, translations and editions may have different rights holders and usage conditions. Availability here does not grant ownership of them or a general licence to republish them. Respect applicable rights and the conditions of the original sources.

2. No scraping or bulk collection

Do not scrape, harvest, systematically download, mirror or extract the website or its collections using bots, scripts, headless browsers or other automated tools without prior written permission from the project. This includes creating bulk datasets or republishing a copy of the library.

Do not bypass access controls, rotate identities to evade limits, share private API keys, or overload the service. Approved automated access must use the Developer API within the scope and limits granted to you. Request access there before starting an integration.

Ordinary search-engine indexing that respects our robots.txt is permitted; indexing is not permission for bulk reuse. These terms do not restrict statutory rights or exceptions that cannot lawfully be limited.

3. A developing research resource

Dar al-Hadith is a new project in active development. Transcription, translation alignment, numbering, references or grading displays may contain errors or be incomplete. Check the cited edition when accuracy matters, and seek qualified scholarship for interpretation or religious rulings.

We work to improve the library, but cannot promise that every entry is complete or error-free, that every report will result in a correction, or that the service will always be available. Nothing here excludes responsibilities that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.

4. Reporting an issue

Use the Report button on a hadith to flag incorrect text, a questionable reference, a grading display, a website problem or another concern. Please describe the issue clearly and include a source reference where possible. Do not submit spam, threats, harassment or deliberately misleading reports.

Your report message, category and hadith reference are stored on our server for private administrator review. Reports are not published. No name or email is required, and your locally saved commentary, bookmarks and highlights are not attached automatically. Avoid including personal or sensitive information.

Reports and review notes are kept as needed to investigate issues and maintain a correction history. The administrator may review, resolve or dismiss a report. Sending a report does not automatically change any narration or guarantee a response time. Rights-related concerns about an entry can also be submitted through its Report button.

For advice, collaboration or general enquiries, use the Contact page. That form asks for your name, email address and message. These details are stored privately for the administrator to review your enquiry, respond and keep a record of any follow-up. Contact messages are not published and are kept as needed to handle the enquiry. Please do not send sensitive personal information.

5. Your saved study

Bookmarks, personal commentary and highlights are saved in your browser on the website address you use. They may be lost if you clear browser data or change browser or device. You can download a study file from Bookmarks as a backup.

You decide whether commentary and highlights are included in a shared file. Share only information you intend the recipient to receive. Importing or sharing study files does not make their commentary an official part of the library.

6. Protecting the service and updating these terms

When enabled, protected forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to help prevent spam. Your browser connects to Cloudflare to complete the security check. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for how it processes data during that check.

We may limit or suspend access that violates these terms or threatens the security, reliability or availability of the service. We may update these terms as the project develops and will change the date on this page. Please review them periodically.
