Text and translation

English translation

1159. Ibn 'Abbās said: “The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ came out on the Day of Al-Fitr and prayed two Rak'ahs. He did not pray before them or after them. Then he went to where the women were with Bilāl, and commanded them to give charity. So a woman would begin throwing her rings and bracelets.” (Sāḥih)

Commentary

No voluntary prayer is to be performed at the Musalla (outdoor prayer area) for the 'Eid, neither before it or after it.
