English translation

1164. It was reported from 'Umārah bin Ghaziyyah, from 'Abbād bin Tamīm, from 'Abdullāh bin Zaid, who said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ sought (supplicated for) rain while he was wearing a black Khamīṣah. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ intended to switch it around, such that its lower part would become the higher part, but when he found difficulty in that, he switched it around over his shoulders." (Sahīh)

1164 - حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ تَمِيمٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ: «اسْتَسْقَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيْهِ خَمِيصَةٌ لَهُ سَوْدَاءُ، فَأَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَأْخُذَ بِأَسْفَلِهَا فَيَجْعَلَهُ أَعْلَاهَا، فَلَمَّا ثَقُلَتْ قَلَبَهَا عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ»
