English translation

1369. Hishām bin ‘Urwah narrated from his father, from ‘Aishah that the Prophet ﷺ sent for ‘Uthmān bin Mazūn. When he came, he said: “O ‘Uthmān, have you turned away from my Sunnah?” He said: “No, by Allāh, O Messenger of Allāh, for it is your Sunnah that I seek!” So he said: “Then I sleep and pray, and fast and break my fast, and marry women. So have the Taqwa of Allāh O ‘Uthmān! For your family has rights over you, and your guests have rights over you, and your (body) has rights over you. So fast, and break your fast, and pray, and sleep (as well).” (Hasan)

Commentary

Too much devotional worship that exhausts and ultimately destroys one's health, and results in shunning required worldly pursuits, is contrary to the Sunnah. In fact, it is like the monasticism practiced by Christians, and it is forbidden in Islam.
