Commentary

Some scholars argue, on the basis of this Hadith, that it is not permissible to say a voluntary prayer after Witr prayer. But other scholars dispute it, and assert that it is commendable, and it is not impermissible, since the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ himself performed a two Rak’ah voluntary prayer after he had already performed Witr, according to authentic narrations.
