1605. Sahl bin Abī Hathmah said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ commanded us as follows: 'When you estimate, then take, and leave a third; if you do not leave or find a third, then leave a fourth.'" (Hasan) Abū Dāwud said: (This means) that the one estimating should leave a third for trade.
1605 - حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ خُبَيْبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: جَاءَ سَهْلُ بْنُ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ، إِلَى مَجْلِسِنَا، قَالَ: أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِذَا خَرَصْتُمْ، فَجُذُّوا، وَدَعُوا الثُّلُثَ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَدَعُوا، أَوْ تَجُذُّوا الثُّلُثَ، فَدَعُوا الرُّبْعَ»، قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ: «الْخَارِصُ يَدَعُ الثُّلُثَ لِلْحِرْفَةِ»
