English translation

1938. ‘Umar bin Al-Khaṭṭāb said: “The people during the times of Jahiliyyah would not depart (from Al-Muzdalifah) until they saw the sun over (the mountain of) Ṭhabīr. But the Prophet ﷺ differed from them and left before the sun rose.”(Sahih)

Commentary

The due time for departure from Al-Muzdalifah is after the Fajr prayer, before sunrise, except for women, children, and the weak and the old, for they may depart earlier than the rest, leaving after midnight, prior to Fajr.
