English translation

222. It was narrated from Sufyan, from Az-Zuhri, from AbU Salamah, from 'Aishah who said that when the Prophet wished to sleep while he was sexually impure, he would perform the Wutü' as for the prayer. (aziz)

Arabic text

222 - حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، «أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ، تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»،

Commentary

It is best that one perform Wudū' at least, if not Ghusl, prior to sleeping when in a state of sexual impurity.
