2232. It was reported from Qatādah, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbās that Barīrah’s husband was a black slave called Mughīth, so the Prophet ﷺ gave her the option (of remaining his wife or leaving him), and then commanded her to observe the waiting period. (Sahīh) به.
2232 - حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: «أَنَّ زَوْجَ بَرِيرَةَ كَانَ عَبْدًا أَسْوَدَ يُسَمَّى مُغِيثًا» فَخَيَّرَهَا - يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ -، وَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَعْتَدَّ "
