English translation

2429. Abū Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'The most virtuous fast, after the month of Ramaḍān, Allāh's month Al-Muharram, and the most virtuous Ṣalāt after the obligatory Ṣalāt is prayer during the night." In his narration, Qutaibah (one of the narrators) did not say: "month," he (merely) said: "Ramaḍān." (Ṣaḥīḥ)

2429 - حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَفْضَلُ الصِّيَامِ بَعْدَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ شَهْرُ اللَّهِ الْمُحَرَّمُ، وَإِنَّ أَفْضَلَ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ الْمَفْرُوضَةِ صَلَاةٌ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ»، لَمْ يَقُلْ قُتَيْبَةُ: «شَهْرٌ»، قَالَ «رَمَضَانُ»
