2474. It was reported from Abū Dāwūd,[1] that ‘Abdullāh bin Budail narrated from ‘Amr bin Dīnār, from Ibn ‘Umar, who said: “During Jāhiliyyah, ‘Umar, may Allāh be pleased with him, vowed to observe I’tikāf near the Ka’bah for a night or a day. He asked the Prophet ﷺ about that. He said: ‘Observe I’tikāf and fast.’” (Da’if)
2474 - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُدَيْلٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، جَعَلَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَيْلَةً، أَوْ يَوْمًا عِنْدَ الْكَعْبَةِ، فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «اعْتَكِفْ وَصُمْ»،
