English translation
2520. It was reported from Sa'eed bin Jubair, from Ibn 'Abbās, who said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "When your brothers were struck down at Uhud, Allāh placed their souls inside green birds who frequent the rivers of Paradise, eating from its fruits and nestling in golden lamps hanging in the shade of the Throne (of Allāh). When they experienced the sweetness of their food, drink and rest, they said: 'Who will inform our brethren about us, that we are alive in Paradise provided with provision, so that they may not be disinterested in Jihād or draw back in war?' Allāh Most High said: 'I shall inform them.'" He (the narrator) said: "Then Allāh, the Mighty and Sublime revealed: 'Think not of those who are killed in the cause of Allāh as dead...' until the end of the Verse."[1] (Hasan)
