English translation

2546. It was reported from Abū Hurairah who said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ used to call a female horse: Faras (horse)." (Hasan)

Arabic text

2546 - حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ مَرْوَانَ الرَّقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زَرْعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُسَمِّي الْأُنْثَى مِنَ الْخَيْلِ فَرَسًا»
