2579. It was reported from Az-Zuhri, from Sa'eed bin Al-Musayyab, from Abū Hurairah, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "Whoever enters a horse (in a race) between two other horses — meaning not knowing whether it will win — then that is not gambling. But whoever enters a horse (in a race) between two other horses, and he is certain that it will win, then that is gambling." (Da'if)
2579 - حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حُصَيْنُ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ، وحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ الْمَعْنَى، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَنْ أَدْخَلَ فَرَسًا بَيْنَ فَرَسَيْنِ - يَعْنِي وَهُوَ لَا يُؤْمَنُ أَنْ يَسْبِقَ - فَلَيْسَ بِقِمَارٍ، وَمَنْ أَدْخَلَ فَرَسًا بَيْنَ فَرَسَيْنِ وَقَدْ أُمِنَ أَنْ يَسْبِقَ فَهُوَ قِمَارٌ»
