English translation

2682. It was reported from Ibn 'Abbās who said: "When a woman was Miqlāh (her children did not survive), she would vow that if her child survives she will make him a Jew. When Banu An-Naḏīr were expelled (from Arabia) there were some children of the Anṣār among them. They said: 'We shall not leave our children.' So Allāh, the Mighty and Sublime, revealed: There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the right path has become distinct from the wrong path."[1] (Saḥīḥ) Abū Dāwūd said: Al-Miqlāh means a woman whose children do not survive.
