2714. It was reported from Sālih bin Muḥammad, who said: "We went on an expedition with Al-Walīd bin Hishām, in the company of Sālim bin 'Abdullāh bin 'Umar and 'Umar bin 'Abdul-Azīz. A man (among us) committed Ghulūl. Al-Walīd ordered his goods to be burnt, and he was paraded around (the people) and his share of the spoils was not given to him." (Da'if) Abū Dāwūd said: This is the more correct of the two Aḥādīth. More than one (narrator) reported that Al-Walīd bin Hishām burnt the camel-saddle of Ziyād bin Sa'd, and that he had committed Ghulūl, and that he beat him.
