288. ‘Amr bin Al-Ĥārith reported from Ibn Shihāb, from ‘Urwah bin Az-Zubair and ‘Amrah bint ‘Abdur-Raḥmān, from ‘Āishah the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, who said: “Umm Ḥabībah — the sister-in-law of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ and wife of ‘Abdur-Raḥmān bin ‘Awf — suffered from Istiḥādah for seven years. She asked the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ about that, so he replied: ‘This is not menstruation, rather it is (from) a vein, so perform Ghusl and pray.’” ‘Āishah said: “So she would perform Ghusl in a tub, in the room of her sister Zainab bint Jahsh, until the redness of the blood would discolor the water.” (Ṣaḥīḥ)
