2976. It was reported from Ibn Ash-Shihāb, from ‘Urwah, from ‘Āishah, who said: “After the death of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ the wives of the Prophet ﷺ intended to send ‘Uthmān bin ‘Affān to Abū Bakr Aṣ-Ṣiddīq, asking for their one-eighth from the (inheritance of the) Messenger of Allāh ﷺ. ‘Āishah said to them: “Did the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ not say: ‘We do not have heirs. What we leave is Ṣadaqah (charity)?” (Ṣaḥīh)
2976 - حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ: إِنَّ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلّى الله عليه وسلم أَرَدْنَ أَنْ يَبْعَثْنَ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ، فَيَسْأَلْنَهُ ثُمُنَهُنَّ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُنَّ عَائِشَةُ: أَلَيْسَ قَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا نُورَثُ مَا تَرَكْنَا فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ»
