3108. It was narrated that Anas bin Mālik said: “The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: ‘None of you should pray for death because of some harm that has befallen him. Rather let him say: “Allāhumma ahyini mā kānatil-ḥayātu khairanlī, wa tawaffanī idha kānatil-wafātu khairanlī (O Allāh, give me life so long as living is good for me, and cause me to die when dying is good for me).” (Ṣaḥīḥ)
3108 - حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا يَدْعُوَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بِالْمَوْتِ لِضُرٍّ نَزَلَ بِهِ، وَلَكِنْ لِيَقُلْ: اللَّهُمَّ أَحْيِنِي مَا كَانَتِ الْحَيَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي، وَتَوَفَّنِي إِذَا كَانَتِ الْوَفَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي "،
