English translation

3591. It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbās said: "When this Verse was revealed - So if they come to you, either judge between them, or turn away from them. If you turn away from them, they cannot hurt you in the least. And if you judge, judge with justice between them. Verily, Allāh loves those who act justly[3] - If Banū An-Naḏīr killed someone from Banū Quraizah, they would pay half of the blood money, but if Banū Quraizah killed someone from Banū An-Naḏīr, they would pay the blood money in full. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ made it equal between them." (Da'if)

3591 - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: " لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {فَإِنْ جَاءُوكَ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ، أَوْ أَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَإِنْ حَكَمْتَ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِالْقِسْطِ} الْآيَةُ، قَالَ: كَانَ بَنُو النَّضِيرِ إِذَا قَتَلُوا مِنْ بَنِي قُرَيْظَةَ أَدَّوْا نِصْفَ الدِّيَةِ، وَإِذَا قَتَلَ بَنُو قُرَيْظَةَ مِنْ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ أَدَّوْا إِلَيْهِمُ الدِّيَةَ كَامِلَةً، فَسَوَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَهُمْ "
