English translation

من حديث الزهري به.3655. It was narrated from Yūnus, from Ibn Shihāb that Urwah bin Az-Zubair narrated to him, that Āishah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, said: "Are you not surprised that Abū Hurairah came and sat at the side of my apartment, and narrated from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, making me hear that. I was offering a voluntary prayer, and he stood up (and left) before I finished my voluntary prayer. If I had caught up with him I would have told him: 'The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ did not speak as quickly as you do.'" (Ṣaḥīḥ)

3655 - حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَهْرِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَنَّ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ: أَلَا يُعْجِبُكَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ جَاءَ فَجَلَسَ إِلَى جَانِبِ حُجْرَتِي يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يُسْمِعُنِي ذَلِكَ وَكُنْتُ أُسَبِّحُ، فَقَامَ، قَبْلَ أَنْ أَقْضِيَ سُبْحَتِي وَلَوْ أَدْرَكْتُهُ لَرَدَدْتُ عَلَيْهِ: «إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَسْرُدُ الْحَدِيثَ مِثْلَ سَرْدِكُمْ»
