Text and translation

English translation

3752. It was narrated that ‘Uqbah bin ‘Āmir said: “We said: ‘O Messenger of Allāh, sometimes you send us, and we stay with people who do not show us any hospitality. What do you think?’ The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said to us: ‘If you stay with people, and they order that you be given what a guest is entitled to, then accept it, but if they do not do that, then take from them what a guest is entitled.’”” (Ṣaḥīh) Abū Dāwūd said: This is proof that a man may take something if it is due to him.
