English translation

3935. It was narrated from Shu'bah, from Qatādah, with his chain, that the Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever manumits a slave who is shared by him and another man, he is responsible for manumitting him in full.” This is the wording of Ibn Suwaid (one of the narrators). (Saḥīh)

3935 - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، بِإِسْنَادِهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَنْ أَعْتَقَ مَمْلُوكًا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ آخَرَ فَعَلَيْهِ خَلَاصُهُ» وَهَذَا لَفْظُ ابْنِ سُوَيْدٍ
