English translation

4003. It was narrated from Ibn Juraij, (he said) "Umar bin 'Aṭā' informed me that the freed slave of Ibn Al-Asqa' - a truthful man, informed him from Ibn Al-Asqa', that the Prophet ﷺ came to them in the dwelling place of the Muhājirīn, and a man asked him: 'Which Verse in the Qur'an is the greatest?' The Prophet ﷺ said: "Allāh! Lā ilāha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshiped but He), Al-Ḥayyul-Qayyūm (the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists). Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him."[1] (Ṣaḥīḥ)

4003 - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ، أَنَّ مَوْلًى لِابْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ، رَجُلَ صِدْقٍ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ ابْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَهُمْ فِي صُفَّةِ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ فَسَأَلَهُ إِنْسَانٌ: أَيُّ آيَةٍ فِي الْقُرْآنِ أَعْظَمُ؟ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " {اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ} [البقرة: 255] "
