English translation

4067. Hishām bin Al-Ghāz said: “The phrase ‘moderately dyed (Muṣarrajah) with safflower (Mu‘asfar)’ means that it was neither intense in hue or light (Muwarrad).” (Da‘if)

4067 - حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْحِمْصِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ، قَالَ: قَالَ هِشَامٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْغَازِ: " الْمُضَرَّجَةُ: الَّتِي لَيْسَتْ بِمُشَبَّعَةٍ وَلَا الْمُوَرَّدَةُ "
