It was narrated from Sufyān, from Az-Zuhri, from 'Ubaidullāh bin 'Abdullāh, from Ibn 'Abbās – Musad-dad and Wahb (two of the narrators) said: From Maimūnah – she said: "A freed slave woman of ours was given a sheep from the Ṣadaqah, and it died. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ passed by it and said: 'Why don't you tan its skin and make use of it?' They said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, it is dead meat.' He said: 'It is only unlawful to eat it.'"
