English translation

4414. It was narrated that Mujāhid said: “Some (other) way” (in narration no. 4413) means the Hadd (punishment).” Ṣufyān said: “Hurt them both” refers to unmarried people, and “confine them to houses” refers to married women.” (Da’if)

4414 - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ، عَنْ شِبْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجِاهِدٍ، قَالَ: " السَّبِيلُ: الْحَدُّ " قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: {فَآذُوهُمَا} [النساء: 16]: الْبِكْرَانِ، {فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ فِي الْبُيُوتِ} [النساء: 15]: الثَّيِّبَاتُ
