4680. It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbās said: "When the Prophet began to face the Ka'bah (when praying), they said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, what about those who died while they used to pray towards Bait Al-Maḥdīs (Jerusalem)?' Then Allāh, The Most High, revealed: And Allāh would never make your faith to be lost."[1] (Hasan)
4680 - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَنْبَارِيُّ، وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ الْمَعْنَى، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: «لَمَّا تَوَجَّهَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ: فَكَيْفَ الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا، وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ؟ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى {وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَانَكُمْ} [البقرة: 143]

This narration proves that Allāh called the prayer “faith,” thereby including it in Faith.
