English translation

4684. It was narrated from Ibn Thawr, from Ma'mar who said: "Az-Zuhri said: Say: "You believe not" but rather say: "We have surrendered (in Islam)" – "We think that Islam is the Kalimah, and faith is the action."[2] (Sahih)

Arabic text

4684 - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ ثَوْرٍ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَ: وَقَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ: {قُلْ لَمْ تُؤْمِنُوا وَلَكِنْ قُولُوا أَسْلَمْنَا} [الحجرات: 14] قَالَ: «نَرَى أَنَّ الْإِسْلَامَ الْكَلِمَةُ وَالْإِيمَانَ الْعَمَلُ»
