English translation

4737. It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbās said: "The Prophet ﷺ used to pray for protection for Al-Ḥasan and Al-Ḥusain (saying): U'dhukumā bi kalimatillāhit-tāmmati min kulli shaitānin wa hāmmatin wa min kulli 'ainin lāmmatin (I seek refuge for you two in the Perfect Words of Allāh from every devil and vermin, and from every envious eye.) Then he said: 'Your father[1] used to seek refuge in (these words) for Ismā'īl and Ishāq.'" (Ṣaḥīḥ) Abū Dāwūd said: This proves that the Qur'ān is not created. به.

4737 - حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنِ الْمِنْهَالِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعَوِّذُ الْحَسَنَ وَالْحُسَيْنَ «أُعِيذُكُمَا بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ، مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ» ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: «كَانَ أَبُوكُمْ يُعَوِّذُ بِهِمَا إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِسْحَاقَ» قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ: «هَذَا دَلِيلٌ عَلَى أَنَّ الْقُرْآنَ لَيْسَ بِمَخْلُوقٍ»
