English translation

5114. It was narrated from Abū Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever claims to belong to people without the permission of his Mawlā (the one who manumitted him), upon him is the curse of Allāh, the Angels and all the people, and on the Day of Resurrection no obligatory or voluntary act of worship will be accepted from him.”[1] (Sahih)

Footnotes

  1. 1

[1] All of this relates to the precision of the chain of narration for no. 5113; that it was narrated with expressions clearly indicating that it was heard (“It was narrated to us, it was narrated to me”) and that it contains narrators from Al-Baṣrah, who took lessons from Shu’bah in concern for precision and trustworthiness of narrators.
