English translation

532. It was reported from Hammād from Ayyūb, from Nāfi', from Ibn 'Umar: "Bilāl called the Adhān before dawn broke, so the Prophet ﷺ commanded him to return and proclaim: 'Verily, the servant has slept, Verily, the servant has slept.'" Mūsā (one of the narrators) added: "So he returned and proclaimed: 'Verily, the servant has slept.'"[1] (Hasan) Abū Dāwūd said: This Hadīth has not been reported from Ayyūb except by Hammād.

532 - حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، وَدَاوُدُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ الْمَعْنَى قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ بِلَالًا أَذَّنَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الْفَجْرِ، فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ فَيُنَادِيَ: «أَلَا إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ، قَدْ نَامَ أَلَا إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ قَدْ نَامَ»، زَادَ مُوسَى: فَرَجَعَ فَنَادَى: أَلَا إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ قَدْ نَامَ، قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ: «وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، إِلَّا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ»،
