Text and translation

English translation

795. It was reported from Ibn Al-Musayyab and Abū Salamah from Abū Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ said: "When one of you leads others in prayer, then let him shorten it, for there are (behind him) sick and old (people), and those who have (other) duties (to fulfill)." (Ṣaḥīḥ)

Commentary

Light or short prayer means to be moderate in length, by not reciting too long for the followers.
