812. It was reported from Ibn Juraij (who said): “Ibn Abī Mulaikah narrated to me from ‘Urwah bin Az-Zubair, from Marwān bin Al-Ḥakam who said: ‘Zaid bin Thābit said to me: “Why do you recite the short Muṣaṣṣal[2] (Sūrahs) during Maghrib, even though I have seen the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ recite the longer of the two?” He (Ibn Abī Mulaikah) said: “I said: ‘Which one is the longer of the two?’ He replied: ‘Al-Aʾrāf, and the other one is Al-Anʾām.”’ And I (Ibn Juraij) asked Ibn Abī Mulaikah so he said to me, that to him they are Al-Mā'idah and Al-Aʾrāf.” (Sahīh)

Commentary
