Text and translation

English translation

876. Ibn 'Abbās narrated that once the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ raised his curtain (to look into the Masjid), and he saw that the people were lined up in rows behind Abū Bakr. So he said: "O people! There is nothing left of Revelation except for a true dream which (a believer) sees, or someone else sees for him. And I have been prohibited from reciting (the Qur'an) while in Rukū' or prostration. So during the Rukū', glorify your Lord, and during prostration, exert yourselves in supplication, for it is verily likely that you will be responded to." (Saḥih)

Commentary

1. A good dream brings good tidings to a Muslim. It may be seen by a person himself or by others about him. 2. It is not allowed to recite the Qur'an while bowing or prostrating.
