English translation
1015. (There is another chain) from Sa'eed bin Abi Sa'eed Al-Maqburi, from Abū Hurairah, that the Prophet ﷺ turned away after praying two Rak'ahs of an obligatory prayer. A man asked him: “Has the prayer been shortened, O Messenger of Allāh, or have you forgotten?” He replied: “I have done neither of these!” But the people said: “You have done so, O Messenger of Allāh.” So he prayed two more Rak'ahs, then left without prostrating the two prostrations of forgetfulness. (Sahih) Abū Dāwūd said: This narration was reported by Dāwūd bin Al-Ḥuṣain from Abī Sufyān the freed slave of Ibn Abī Ahmad, from Abū Hurairah, from the Prophet ﷺ. He said: "Then he prostrated two prostrations while he was sitting, after the Taslīm."
