English translation

1081. Ibn 'Umar narrated: "When the Prophet ﷺ grew old, Tamīm Ad-Dārī said: 'Should I not make for you a Minbar that will carry you, O Messenger of Allāh ﷺ?' He said: 'Yes,' so he made for him a Minbar with two steps." (Hasan)

Commentary

This Hadīth says that the Minbar was made by Tamīm Ad-Dārī, but the Hadīth preceding it says that it was made a slave. Al-Hāfiz Ibn Hajar said that the latter Hadīth is stronger than the former, and added that both may have been connected, one way or the other, with the making of the Minbar.
