Text and translation

English translation

1146. Abdur-Raḥmān bin 'Ābis reported that a man asked Ibn 'Abbās: "Did you attend Eid with the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ?" He replied: "Yes, and were it not for my relationship with him, I would not have attended it due to my young age. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ went to the sign that is located at the house of Kathīr bin Aṣ-Ṣalt, and prayed, then delivered the Khuṭbah. And he did not call the Adhān or the Iqāmah. Then he ordered (them to give) charity, so the women started motioning to their ears and chests (their earrings and necklaces). He commanded Bilāl to go to them, then he returned to the Prophet ﷺ." (Saḥīḥ)
