Text and translation

English translation

1267. Qais bin 'Amr narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ saw someone praying two Rak'ahs after the Subh prayer, so he said: "The Subh prayer consists of (only) two Rak'ahs." The man said: "I was not able to pray the two Rak'ahs before them, so I prayed them now." So the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ remained silent. (Hasan)

Commentary

In case one misses the Sunnah prayer of Fajr, it is better to say it later on, especially because the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ never skipped it, not even during his travels.
