2160. It was reported from 'Amr bin Shu'aib, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Prophet ﷺ said: "When one of you marries a woman, or buys a servant, let him say: 'Allāhumma! Innī as'aluka khairahā wa khaira mā jabaltahā 'alaīhi, wa a'ūdhu bika min sharrihā wa min sharri mā jabaltahā 'alaih [O Allāh! I ask You of the good in her, and the good of what You have bestowed upon her (in her character). And I seek Your refuge from her evil, and the evil of what you have bestowed upon her (in her character)].' And if he buys a mount, let him hold on to its forehead and say similarly." (Hasan)
Abū Dāwūd said: Abū Sa'eed added:[1] "Then let him hold on to her forehead and supplicate for blessings" regarding the female servant.
