English translation

2347. ‘Abdullāh bin Mas‘ūd said: “The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: ‘The Adhān of Bilāl should not prevent one of you from his Sahūr, for he says the Adhān’” — or he said: ‘call’ — “so that those praying can return, and to wake the sleeping among you. Dawn is not like this” — Musad-dad (one of the narrators) said: “And Yahyā joined his (fingers to his) palm”[1] ‘Until it is like this’ — And Yahya extended his two index fingers.”[2] (Sahih)

2347 - حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنِ التَّيْمِيِّ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا يَمْنَعَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ أَذَانُ بِلَالٍ مِنْ سُحُورِهِ، فَإِنَّهُ يُؤَذِّنُ - أَوْ قَالَ: يُنَادِي - لِيَرْجِعَ قَائِمُكُمْ، وَيَنْتَبِهَ نَائِمُكُمْ، وَلَيْسَ الْفَجْرُ أَنْ يَقُولَ هَكَذَا " قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ وَجَمَعَ يَحْيَى كَفَّيْهِ حَتَّى يَقُولَ هَكَذَا، وَمَدَّ يَحْيَى بِأُصْبُعَيْهِ السَّبَّابَتَيْنِ
