English translation

2364. It was reported from 'Ubaidullāh bin 'Āmir bin Rabī'ah, from his father who said: "I saw the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ using a Siwāk while he was fasting." Musad-dad (one of the narrators) added: "He did it so often, that I lost count of it." (Da'if)

2364 - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يَسْتَاكُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ»، زَادَ مُسَدَّدٌ مَا لَا أَعُدُّ، وَلَا أُحْصِي

Commentary

Provided that no external substance be swallowed, there is no harm in cleaning the mouth by any means while fasting.
