English translation

2365. It was reported from Abū Bakr Ibn 'Abdur-Raḥmān, from someone from among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ; "I saw the Prophet ﷺ ordering people, while traveling during the Year of the Conquest of Makkah, to break the fast. He said: 'Enerize for your enemy.' And the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ (himself) fasted." Abū Bakr said: "The one who narrated to me said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ at Al-'Araj pouring water over his head while he was fasting, due to thirst or the heat.'" (Sahih)

Commentary

In order to fight extreme heat or thirst, a fasting person is allowed to pour water on his head or body, or take a shower, or put a wet cloth on his body.
