2565. It was reported from Abū Al-Khair, from Ibn Zurair, from ‘Alī bin Abi Tālib who said: “The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ was given a she-mule as a gift which he rode.” ‘Alī said: “If we studded donkeys with mare horses we would have animals of this type?” The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “Those who don’t know do that.” (Ṣāḥih)
2565 - حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ، عَنِ ابْنِ زُرَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أُهْدِيَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَغْلَةٌ فَرَكِبَهَا، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ: لَوْ حَمَلْنَا الْحَمِيرَ عَلَى الْخَيْلِ فَكَانَتْ لَنَا مِثْلُ هَذِهِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّمَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ»
