Commentary

1. As is well-known, the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ led an austere life, and was wont to giving away anything and everything he had in charity. Still, he never failed to offer the stipulated sacrifice. 2. The camel is slaughtered in a particular way known as Nahr, which means using a spear to cut in the hollow of its throat near the breastbone, this process may also be used for other large and dangerous animals like the cow for example. 3. The camel is slaughtered while it is in the standing position, with its left leg fettered in such a way as to prevent it from moving.
