3119. It was narrated that Umm Salamah said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'If one of you is afflicted with a calamity, let him say: Innā Lillāhi wa innā ilaihi rāji'ūn. Allāhumma! 'Indaka aḥtasibu muṣibātū fa'jurnū fihā wa abdil lī bihā khairan-minha (Verily to Allāh we belong and unto Him is our return; O Allāh, I seek reward for my calamity with You, so reward me for it and compensate me with something better than it)."(Ḥasan)
3119 - حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا أَصَابَتْ أَحَدَكُمْ مُصِيبَةٌ فَلْيَقُلْ: إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ عِنْدَكَ أَحْتَسِبُ مُصِيبَتِي، فَآجِرْنِي فِيهَا، وَأَبْدِلْ لِي بِهَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا "
