English translation

4008. It was narrated from 'Urwah that 'Āishah said: "The Revelation came down to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, and he recited to us: "(This is) a Sūrah (chapter of the Qur'ān) which We have sent down and which We have enjoined (ordained its laws)"! [2] (Sahih) Abū Dāwūd said: Meaning, (without doubling the Rā') such that these verses follow.

Arabic text

4008 - حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ: نَزَلَ الْوَحْيُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " فَقَرَأَ عَلَيْنَا {سُورَةٌ أَنْزَلْنَاهَا وَفَرَضْنَاهَا} [النور: 1] " قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ: «يَعْنِي مُخَفَّفَةً حَتَّى أَتَى عَلَى هَذِهِ الْآيَاتِ»
