Text and translation

English translation

4068. It was narrated from Shuf‘ah, from ‘Abdullāh bin ‘Amr bin Al-‘Ās, who said: “The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ saw me” – Abū ‘Alī Al-Lu‘lu[1] said: “I think he said: ‘While I was wearing a garment lightly dyed (Muwarrad) with safflower’” – and he said: “What is this?” I went and burned it, and the Prophet ﷺ asked: “What did you do with your garment?” I said: “I burned it.” He said: “Why didn’t you give it to one of your family?” (Da‘if) Abū Dāwūd said: Thawr reported it from Khālid, so he said: “Muwarrad” and Tāwūs said: “Mu‘asfar.”
