4122. It was narrated from 'Abdur-Razzāq, who said: "Ma'mar said: 'Az-Zuhri did not think of tanning as necessary, and he said: "Some use may be made of it in any case." (Sahih) Abū Dāwūd said: Al-Awzā'ī, Yūnus and 'Uqail did not mention tanning in the Hadīth of Az-Zuhri. It was mentioned by Az-Zubaidī, Sa'eed bin 'Abdul-'Aziz and Ḥafṣ bin Al-Walīd.
4122 - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ فَارِسٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ: قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ: وَكَانَ الزُّهْرِيُّ يُنْكِرُ الدِّبَاغَ، وَيَقُولُ: «يُسْتَمْتَعُ بِهِ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ»، قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ: «لَمْ يَذْكُرِ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ وَيُونُسُ، وَعُقَيْلٌ فِي حَدِيثِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، الدِّبَاغَ، وَذَكَرَهُ الزُّبَيْدِيُّ، وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ وَحَفْصُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ذَكَرُوا الدِّبَاغَ»
